Lateral deformation of piles involves large strains in the soil near the ground surface. The lateral deflection of a laterally loaded pile at relatively low load level will increase approximately linearly with applied loads. However the overall load deflection behaviour is distinctively non - linear.

The Cross Hole Sonic Logging (CSHL/CHMU) Test is a non-destructive testing (NDT) method used to evaluate the quality, uniformity, and structural integrity of concrete piles and drilled shafts. It is widely employed as a quality assurance (QA) technique to ensure that newly constructed piles meet design specifications and structural safety standards.

In this method, ultrasonic signals are transmitted through embedded PVC or steel tubes within the concrete. The signals are received at the other end to detect any voids, honeycombing, cracks, or anomalies in the pile or drilled shaft. This provides a clear assessment of the pile’s structural soundness, continuity, and uniformity without causing any damage.

TypeLow Strain Pile Integrity Testing Service

Minimum order quantity: 10 Meter

Pile Integrity Testing (PIT), also known as Low Strain Dynamic Testing, is a reliable and widely used Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) method for assessing the structural integrity and continuity of foundation piles. This testing service is essential for ensuring the safety and performance of pile foundations in construction projects.

Our Pile Integrity Testing Service helps in detecting defects such as cracks, necking, bulging, voids, soil inclusions, and variations in pile cross-section that may compromise structural stability. The test also provides an estimate of pile length and overall uniformity.

In this method, a controlled light hammer impact is applied to the pile head, generating a stress wave that travels along the pile shaft. The reflected signals are captured using high-sensitivity sensors (accelerometers) and analyzed with advanced software to identify anomalies and assess pile condition accurately.

This testing method is suitable for various types of piles, including cast-in-situ piles, bored piles, and driven piles. It is commonly used for quality assurance and quality control during foundation construction.
